I prepared for the interview with Mike Caro as I always do, by doing some research and making a long list of questions that I usually don’t get to, but like to have in case the interviewee needs a lot of prompting. Women online poker room managers are, at this point in time, not very common, yet anyone suffering from the delusion that women cannot compete in this line of work can be instantly cured of it by meeting Trish Salazar. So much has been written about Calvin Ayre that it is a little daunting for an interviewer to approach the subject, knowing how many have come before you.
Yet, talking to him, you realize this is a pretty regular guy who just happens to be a billionaire.
And the more we talked, I began to realize that no matter how many people interview him, each interview would probably be different, because his mind is quick and active, and he would probably get bored easily answering the same old questions in the same way.

Running an online poker room might seem to some to be a step down from being a practicing attorney, but Absolute Poker’s manager Richard Frost would tell you it’s the other way around. For him, poker is far more interesting, engaging, and challenging.
When you talk to him, however, his legal training is clearly apparent and you would have no problem imagining him in front of a jury, making his closing argument.
